Fair Work Agency

From 7 April 2026, a new state enforcement body called the Fair Work Agency (FWA) will begin operating.

The FWA will bring together the current enforcement functions of HMRC’s national minimum wage team, the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority, and the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate. Its role will include enforcing national minimum wage, agency worker protections and gangmaster licensing, as well as taking action in cases involving modern slavery offences.

The FWA will also take on responsibility for enforcing additional employment rights, including Statutory Sick Pay and holiday pay.
