Contractor Pre-qualification Advice

How does Pre-Qualification Advice help?

Increasingly, local authorities and large contractors are using use third party accreditation schemes to assess the Health & Safety competence of Contractors. These Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQ) act as a way of short listing suppliers who will be able to tender for jobs. They will assess the abilities of a company based on staff skill and training, previous experience, environmental and discrimination policies, financial viability and Health & Safety.

However, meeting the criteria and making sure you are giving the information they want to hear can be frustrating and time consuming. DCL have experience in the process and with our help you can understand and successfully apply for a wide range of accreditation schemes including: CHAS Certificate of Accreditation (Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme), SMAS Worksafe Accreditation (Safety Management Advisory Services) and Safe Contractor Accreditation.

(SSIP)

To simplify the process, a number of existing accreditation schemes which assess Health & Safety competence, e.g. SMAS, CHAS, EXOR and SAFEcontractor, are now registered members of the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) forum which is actively supported by the HSE. So if you are accredited by one of the above, you should also be accepted, under the SSIP rules, by the others without the need to complete multiple Health & Safety application forms from other SSIP members.
